Sisters and Husbands Bound for Canada
After their parents had been to Canada for a Silver Wedding holiday three years ago, two Mexborough’s sister decided to emigrate, and they leave on for the 21st with their husbands.
Mrs Angela Crossland, aged 25, and her husband John live with her parents, Mr and Mrs Bill Morton at Adwick Road, Mexborough until they sail for Canada.
Mrs Crossland , who was married two years ago, has worked at Young’s jewellers at High Street, Mexborough, since she left school nine years ago, and she has been manageress for five years.
Husband, John, was a slater and tiler was a Leeds firm, lived at Ellershaw Lane, Conisbrough with his parents before his marriage.
Angela sister, Jean, 28, was married in 1959, and she and her husband Eric are living at her sister Vicky’s home at Wombwell Avenue, Wath for the time being.
Eric was manager at last year’s wallpaper and paint shop at Sheffield, and Jean worked for a time at the CWS hosiery factory at Bolton.
In Canada, Angela and her husband intend to go to Hamilton, and Jean and Harry to Toronto.
Both husbands are taking “potluck” for jobs, but do not think it will be difficult to find work.
Mr David Scott, director of the jewellery shop where Angela worked, has presented her with a wristwatch and a travelling clock.
