When he was only 13 he won a medal in a Doncaster juvenile competition. The South Yorkshire Times was very welcome out there and he looked forward to receiving it.

Leading Seaman Meese has taken part in naval actions in several parts of the world and was in some of the convoys to Malta.

When he left Mexborough he was Ordinary Seaman and joins his unit to study for further promotion. Before volunteering he was employed at Dale Brown’s, Swinton, and is an old boy of Adwick Road, School
