“Mexbro’s Worst.”
A Drubbing at Scunthorpe.

Scunthorpe 5, Mexboro’ 0

Scunthorpe; Unwin; Severn, Holland. Skull, Milson, Hunter; Wainwright, Maw, Bowers, Allen, Foster.

Mexboro’: Bromage; Shaw, Davis; Beaumont, Kennedy, Sylvester; Hancock, Bromley, Briggs, Smith, Vollans.

Referee: S. Dewhurst, Sheffield.

Mexboro’ were without Shaw, Saxton and Hill at Scunthorpe on’ Saturday, and had the misfortune to ‘run up ‘against the champions on a day when they could do no-wrong. All the ‘same, it is only fair to, say that Scunthorpe showed similar form at South Elmsall two days before, and it only requires a continuance of .such form, to attract better attendances to the old Show Ground than have been known since Scunthorpe Were knocked out of the F.A. Cup competition.

With Bowers a big strong youth from the reserves, leading the attack -so well the absence of the, brainy Simms, was little felt, and Milson the reserve centre-half, is a typical` Midland Leaguer: robust and clever.

The whole team worked like clockwork and their enthusiasm was so great that they met with even greater success in the second half when playing against the wind than they did in the first half.

At the interval they led by two goals scored by FOSTER, and after the changeover ALLEN (2) and MAW added further goals. It is difficult to see how Mexboro’ could have done much better than they did with the same material.
