Able Seaman George Venables is one of those prisoners of war recently transferred from Italy to Germany.

He is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Venables, 14 Crossgate, Mexborough and has been interned in camp P.G. 52 since April after he had been reported missing presumed killed in minesweeping operations in January.

He has recently written home from Stalag 8b. A. B. Venables, who is 27, enlisted in February 1941 and for a time served on H.M.S. Arctic Pioneer, sunk in May, 1942, when he received injuries to his head and legs. Previously he worked at the L.N.E.R. goods yard, Mexborough and was a member of Mexborough Amateur Dramatic Society.

His brother, Sergt. Joseph Venables is with the Irish Guards.
