Tribute To A Mexboro Sailor.
Seaman Wm. Barker, R.N., 8, Ferryboat lane, Mexboro’, who was recently killed on the Midland railway at Kilnhurst, joined the Navy at the age of 15, and served in H.M.S, Dublin over two years. He took part in the battle of Jutiand. His parents have the following message of sympathy from Capt. R. E, Erle Drax, R.N.
“I am writing to express to you the sympathy and profound regret of and the officers of this ship on hearing of the death of your son. He joined this ship just before the battle of Jutland, and. Served rather more than two years here, so during his short life he has done all that was in his power for his King and country, and considerably more than many others of his age can only in we know we know they say they on shore.
We wish very much that it had been possible for some of his ‘shipmates to be present at the funeral.”
