Willis Beaumont’s 900th goal

In scoring six of Mexborough’s eight goals in the match with Swinton, at Olympia on Friday, Willis Beaumont passed the 900 mark, the occasion being celebrated at a supper at which both teams were entertained after the match. The game was very keenly contested before a good attendance, other scorers for Mexborough being Baron and Toone, while for Swinton G. Johnson (2), and Cauwood scored.
Olympia Palace who a month ago were beaten 4-2 by Mansfield at Mexborough, lost the return game at Mansfield 3-1, Musson (2), and Mellor scoring from the home team while Wright got Olympia’s goal.
On Tuesday, Olympia was crowded when an exhibition of modern skating was given by Madame Evans and Mr. J. D. Vessey of Sheffield, and Carslake the Australian skating champion. The exhibition was much enjoyed and the skaters judged a two-step contest, six couples been selected for the final on Monday, when a special Late Carnival is to be held. There will also be entertainment by the Milton and ideal girls, who have been engaged for the week.
Tonight Olympia flyers oppose the Palace in a Midland counties championship game and on Saturday the flyers meet Derby All Blacks in the same competition. On Thursday Olympia is reserved for the “Rag” dance.
