Rev T B Powells Hat-Trick
The Rev G B Powell, formerly curate at Mexborough and a former member of the Mexborough team, began the season by getting Herbert Sutcliffe’s wicket during the annual visit of the Yorkshire players to the Doncaster ground; followed up with one or two lesser feats in Yorkshire Council games for Doncaster; but on Saturday earned greater distinction than ever
Playing at Pontefract for Doncaster Yorkshire Council match he took six wickets for 34 runs – a notable enough piece of work yet a pretty strong batting side like Pontefract. But that was not all. He did the hat-trick, and narrowly missed doing it twice and the innings, for two of his other wickets were obtained with consecutive deliveries.
