Red Cross Rally Yields £1,207

Gross proceeds of last week’s Mexborough Red Cross Rally were £1,213 17s 2d and expenses £6 16s., leaving a net result of £1,207 1s 2d.

Amounts raised by the war committee were:

Adwick Road £372. 6s., Central £134, Church Street £286 11s 3d., Common £187 2s., Doncaster Road £166 15s 11d., Roman Terrace £28 12s. Refreshments brought in £17 16s 9d., and miscellaneous receipts amounted to £20 13s 3d.  Donations included £7 10s from the residents of Herbert Street.

Results of competitions were:

Adwick Road stall, doll, won by Walter Clayden, 29, Hatherley Road, Swinton (given by Mrs J. Newton). Bottle of whisky Mrs. Copley; cake, Mr. C. Mason; Doncaster Road stall, National Savings Certificate, Mrs. Wrench; Christmas stocking, Mrs. Bould, gooseberries, Mrs. Jenkinson; shopping bag, Mrs. Shaw; eggs, Mr. Dryden; Church Street, cake; Miss Jean Lowe; doll, Mrs. Stead (Wath); Common wand whisky, Mrs. Dunstan; cake, Mrs. Bagshaw; tin of fruit, Miss Clay; tablecloth, Mrs. Norris; cheval set (?), Lower Dolcliffe Road; parcel of groceries, Mrs. Depledge ; child’s sewing machine, 52, Addison Road; Central Ward, Doll’s house, Mrs. Worth; rug.  Mrs. Withington (Wath); tip-up lorry, Mrs Parker; Roman Terrace, cake, Mrs. Oxley.
