The following characters are portrayed: Miss Vera Williams (Teresa), Miss Margaret Shillito (Angela), Mrs. Winifred Braithwaite (Vittoria), Miss Jean Lowe (Gianetta), Mr. Jack Bell (Baldasarre), Mr. Ernest Boden (Tonio), Mr. Herbert Lowe (Carlo), Mr. William Burton (B eppo), Mr. Arthur Houlton (General Malona), Mr, C. Dimberline (Crumpet), Mr. Jack Williams (Andrea), Mr. Redvers Melbourne (Pietro), and Mr. E. Corbett (Lieut. Ruggini).
Now that the Hippodrome is shuttered up the Mexborough Operatic Society perform a particularly valuable service to the town by providing at least six nights of “live” theatre each year. This year they have acted boldly in choosing “Maid of the Mountains,” which they are to give in Olympia, Mexborough, throughout next week.
Along with “Desert Song,” the show will be the most expensive the Society have produced, and it is estimated that “overheads” will come to about £400.
