Obituary – Mrs. Frank Walters
Mexborough Removal Contractor Bereaved
We regret to record the death, which occurred on Monday, of Mrs. Zillah Walters, wife of Mr. Frank Walters, removal contractor, of 51, Tennyson Avenue, Mexborough. Many friends of this well-known and popular couple will extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved husband and son Hugh.
Mrs. Walters had borne a protracted period of ill health very bravely and cheerfully. As she appeared to be a little better last week-end her husband motored her over to Bridlington on Saturday for what it was hoped to be a beneficial charge of air. She became ill shortly after arrival there, however, and was brought back by ambulance on Sunday and taken to Sheffield Royal Hospital where she died the following day.
Second daughter of Mrs. Thornton and the late Mr. J Thornton of Mexborough, Mrs. Walters was a trained nurse. Before her marriage in 1933 she had been on the staff at hospitals at Driffield, Biggleswade and elsewhere. She was a member of the Mexborough Inner Wheel Club and, with her husband, had also taken a lively interest in the revival of the Merry Mexborough Social Committee.
She had a bright and vivacious personality which won her a host a friends, who particularly admired the courage with which she had faced a long and ultimately fatal illness.
