Obituary – Mrs May Chilton
The death occurred at the Montagu Hospital on Friday following an operation, of Mrs. May Chilton, (54), wife of Mr. Fred A. Chilton, postmaster of Doncaster Road Sub-Post Office.
Mrs. Chilton had been associated in business with her husband during the last 23 years. A daughter of the late Coun. and Mrs. Christopher Ward of Mexborough, Mrs. Chilton attended Mexborough Secondary School, and took up a teaching career.
She taught at Mexborough Garden Street School, John Street School, Wombwell and until 1920, at Adwick Road Schools, Mexborough.
Mrs. Chilton leaves a husband and an adopted son who is serving with the R.A.F. The cremation took place at Sheffield on Tuesday, after a service in the Primitive Methodist Chapel, conducted by the Rev. J. H. Cretney.
