Mexborough Hospital Work
Married 55 years
Mrs. Annie E. Clayton, one of the most prominent workers for the Mexborough Montagu Hospital, died on Saturday at the age of 77.
She was the wife of Mr. John Clayton, “Inglenook”. Church Street, Mexborough.
Mrs. Clayton was a native of Peterborough, but had lived in Mexborough since her marriage 55 years ago.
Both she and her husband have been citizens of Mexborough in the best sense of the word, but their finest work has undoubtedly been done in connection with the Montagu Hospital, in the affairs of which they have always taken a keen interest.
CHURCH AND HOSPITAL WORK.
Mrs. Clayton succeeded Miss A. E. Montagu in 1911 as the secretary of the Ladies’ Committee and she held this position for several years at intervals.
She has also been a prominent worker’ for the Congregational Church ever since she came to Mcxborough and regularly attended services there,
