Now Personal Assistant
Mr T. R. Harrop, 66 Harlington Road Mexborough, for 20 years in the services of Manvers Main Colliery, and latterly for several years Chief Clerk of the Coke Oven Department, left Manvers and is now personal assistant to Mr WF Carr, Carbonisation Officer for the National Coal Board at Newcastle.
The appointment was effected from last Monday.
Mr. Harrop is a member of an old Mexborough family, and an old boy of Mexborough Secondary School.
He was called up in August 1944, and in July, 1945, received a commission in the RAOC. After service in Egypt he returned to England and was promoted Captain.
During his long stay with Manvers he was secretary of Manvers Main Sports Club and assistant editor of the Bulletin of the Coke Oven Managers’ Association, and is the author of a published work on organisation and costing in coke oven plants.
