Northern Champ Now

James Ellis, Thurnscoe schoolboy, who became a Yorkshire and North Eastern area boxing champion at 10st. to 10st. 8lbs., became a North of England champion at Yeadon on Saturday, and is now in the semi-finals for an all-England title. He will box at Southend on March 10th. Thurnscoe Hill Modern School headmaster, whose organising abilities made such a grand job of arrangements for the Yorkshire titles at Mexborough, will be there to see him.

Of the other two local Yorkshire and North Eastern champions, Proctor of Mexborough, was a runner-up in Saturday’s North of England titles, while Londesboro, of Thurnscoe, was beaten in the earlier preliminaries.
