Mexborough’s Good Accident Record

It was revealed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Mexborough Road Safety Committee that with one day of 1952 remaining there had been 105 accidents in the district, but none of them had resulted in fatal injuries. Wednesday passed without a road accident in the district.

The accident figures represent a decrease of 12 accidents compared with the figures for 1951, when accident figures reached their highest peak in the district for several years.

Of the 105 accidents, 28 involved dogs. Serious personal injuries were sustained in 11 cases and slight injuries in 34 cases. Seventeen of the dogs involved in accidents were killed and the remainder injured.

The chairman of the Mexborough Road Safety Committee, Coun. S. Stubbs, expressed a hope that in 1953 road accidents would be cut still further.
