News of his son, Gnr. Wilfred Swindells, who was reported missing six months ago, has been received by Mr. G. Swindells, of 23, Britain Street, Mexborough.

Gnr. Swindells, who is 32, was serving with the R.A. in Malaya at the time of the capitulation o f Singapore. News has been received this week from the War Office that the unit with which he was serving is – now believed to be at Java, having left Singapore before its capitulation.

There was no reason to indicate that Gunner Swindells had not left with his regiment.

He is married, and his wife lives at 15 Britain Street, Mexborough. Prior to joining up he was employed on the surface at Manvers Main Colliery.
