New Surgeon for Mexborough Hospital
Board’s Re-Organisation of Services
A start was made in the re-staffing of Mexborough Montagu Hospital yesterday with the appointment of Mr. R. Stuppel F.R.C.S.. as resident surgeon.
Two other house surgeons are to appointed, and a scheme of reorganisation to reduce waiting time in the outpatients’ department is to be introduced.
Consultants are to be appointed in the next few days to take charge of specialised services at the hospital.
The appointment by the staffing committee of Mr, Stuppel. who began his new duties immediately, was announced by the Board of Management.
A statement, presented Mr. D. Humphreys, added:—
“We desire to re-assure our subscribers and all persons who require treatment at the hospital that in view of these arrangements the services at the hospital will continue unimpaired, with the added advantage resulting from the appointment resident surgeon.
“There will also two other qualified resident house surgeons.
A scheme of re-organisation be introduced with the object of reducing waiting time a at the hospital for those patients attending the out-patients department, particulars of which will be made known in due course.
Co-Operation Asked
“In connection with these altered arrangements intended for the modernisation of the services, we ask for the co-operation of all concerned.”
Mr. Stuppel was appointed at meeting of the stalling committee hurriedly called at breakfast time yesterday.
Originally it was understood that the resignations of the six consultants and 23 local practitioners comprising the honorary medical staff, became effective last night and the Board was waiting for the expiry of the notices before proceeding with new appointments.
