Mexbro’ Visitor Will Have a Keen Eye on Hillsboro’

A 19-year-old Dutch visitor to Mexborough will be a keen spectator at the Sheffield Wednesday– Doncaster Rovers match at Hillsborough to-morrow.

Hoens Wilhelmus Hendrikus Gerardus, to give him his full name, is more than pleased to have been able to visit his sister at Mexborough for the opening of the football season. An assistant auditor in Eindhoven, Hoens is a member of the Brabantia team. As a centre-forward he will have particular interest in the respective defences at Sheffield to-morrow.

During his fortnight’s visit to Mexboro’ Hoens is staying with his sister Mrs. Covvy Wilkinson at 5, Windhill Terrace. Mrs. Wilkinson has lived in England since her marriage last November, but visited her home some three weeks ago.

Like most of his fellow countrymen, Hoens is an ardent cyclist.  He told the “South Yorkshire Times” on Monday, 24 hours after landing in England, that he would borrow a cycle and see as much of South Yorkshire as he could.  One of a family of four, Hoens is making his first visit to this country. He speaks English quite well, having learned the language at school and later through an English commercial course.
