September 1947

South Yorkshire Times September 27, 1947

Torn Creighton, 20, Kelvin Street, Mexborough, passes on news of his eldest daughter which will be of interest to her many Mexborough friends.

Now Mrs. Margaret O’Neill,  Miss Creighton is with her husband, an American whom she met during the war, in Newhaven, Connecticut.

Married in Doncaster three years ago, she went out to the States about eighteen months ago and now holds a responsible position in a large store lingerie department.

A cutting from an American newspaper describes her as having risen in a comparatively short time from a minor position to, that of head sales girl in the department, and adds: “The management considers the English bride one of the best qualified sales girls ever to work in the store.”

Miss Creighton was formerly at Hadfields (Swinton) and later at Briggs. She met her husband while working on munitions at Guiseley, near Leeds.
