Mexborough Widow’s 12,000 mile Journey to Visit Sons

17 year old Mrs S.A. Elliott, of 36 Victoria Road, Mexborough left South Yorkshire yesterday in the first part of a tidy 12,000 mile hop to Sydney, New South Wales

She is going to see her three sons, Fred, Ernest and Frank.

Fred, who is engaged on the Sydney Power Station has been in Australia 21 years. Frank is fruit farming; he has been there seventeen years; So has Ernest who is a, motor mechanic.

All three are old Mexborough men. Mrs. Elliott has five sons: Dan, who is going with her, will be making his second trip halfway round the world.     Mrs. Elliott’s husband, Mr, Joseph Elliott, died about five years ago. He was for twenty years joiner to Mexborough Urban Council.
