Denaby Lose At Lincoln.
Lincoln City Reserves 3 Denaby United 2
No fewer than four new men appeared with the Lincoln Reserves in the match with Denaby United on the Sincil Bank. Gerry, centre-forward of Larkhill United, Durose, inside right (a local lad), Hemstead, centre; half (of Gainsborough) and goalkeeper Berman, goalkeeper of Grimsby Y.M.C.A .
In having face a strong wind and a brilliant sun Denabv were at a great disadvantage in the first half, and they were the defensive practically the whole of this period. Lincoln scored thrice. Gerry played a fine game and obtained two of the goals, while it was clever work on his part which brought about the third goal.
The visitors were very aggressive in the second forty-five minutes, the outstanding figure being little Tyas who amused the crowd in the tricky manner in which he outwitted more robust opponents. It was he who opened the score for Denaby.
The visitors’ other goal was as cheap could be. Burman could have stopped ease a long, dropping shot from Nimrod had he remained at his post, but he ran out too fa’s r and misjudged the flight of the ball, which passed over his extended hand-.
Mexborough’s Achievement.
Mexborough Town 3 Rotherham County 0
Mexborough Town have taken four points result of their League matches, with Rotherham County this season. At Mexborough on Saturday the game between the pair was not a good one, the County showing but shadow of the form they exhibited at Denaby the previous day. In fact, neither side settled down to good combined play.
Frost was about the only forward in the two attacking lines show anything like decent finishing effort, and he got all three Mexborough goals. Davidson was source of strength to Mexborough, whose backs were always a bit too good for the County forwards, among whom were Hakin and Palmer, ex-Mexborough players who failed to shine against their old club.
Lee was easily the pick of the County attack.
