Mexborough to Blackpool

Mexhorough newsagent Mr. Stanley Booth, left this week with his wife and children to live in Blackpool.

Mr. Booth (43), has worked in the shop at 141, Wath Road, for 30 Years. He took over from his father, Mr. John Booth (87), now of Rockingham Road, Swinton, 13 years ago.

Mr. Booth told a “South Yorkshire Times” reporter: “I shall miss Roman Terrace, particularly the school children. They pack the shop every morning and dinner time for sweets.”

He started in the business when he left school and for four years was secretary-treasurer of Mexborough branch of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents. Mr. and Mrs. Booth have two daughters, Janet (4), and Maureen (six months).

New proprietor of the business is Mr. W. J. Mansell, of Doncaster Road, Mexborough. He was employed at Cadeby Colliery.
