The total profit realised by the rally for the Red Cross, at the Empress Ballroom last Thursday, reported in our last issue, was £942 6s 5d. Receipts were £949 5s 2d., and expenses only £6 18s 9d.

Ward Committees realised the following amounts: Adwick Road £3O8 11s. 6d; Central £209 17s; Church Street £157 9s 1d; Common Ward £142; Roman Terrace £84 1s. 2d; refreshments £23 5s 11d; Doncaster Road £15 7s 1d; miscellaneous £1 14s 8d. The committee greatly appreciate the help given by workers and supporters of the rally.

Maud, Countess Fitzwilliam, who opened the rally, bought many articles, and on leaving the hall handed a toy to Beryl Lees, a child she saw outside the ballroom. The leather handbag, made by a disabled soldier, and given by the countess, was sold to Miss M. Sinclair for £5, and the bouquet presented to the countess at the opening ceremony was sold for £1 1s.

Donations amounted to £42 3s 4d. and admission tickets realised £43 12s. 9d. Some prizes for winning tickets have not been claimed, and may be had on application to the hon. Secretary, Mr. C. Mason, at Mexborough Post Office.

Other competition results were: Doll, Central Ward, £37 4s., won by Mrs. Watts; bottle of whisky, given by Mr. J. J. Woffinden, Church Street Ward, £32 16s, won by Mrs. L. M. Stanton; blue dressed doll, Mrs. Fieldhouse’s Stall, won by Mrs. Winstanley (Swinton); basket of fruit given by Mrs. Long, Central Ward, £15; won by Mrs Mills; child’s cot, given Mrs. Hargreaves, won by Mrs. Nevell; shopping bag, given by Mrs. Bullock, Roman Terrace Ward; £4 5s, won by ticket No.146; model aircraft, made by disabled soldier, Mr. Percy Jackson, Common Ward, £3, won by Miss Jean Beaumont: articles auctioned by Mr. F. Green,  including hand-worked rug given by Mr. G. W. Wadsworth, Common Ward. £3.
