Mexborough Pools Prize Winner
Following close on the news of a Harlington man’s £45,000 pools win comes information that Mr Frederick Clifford (26) a shop assistant of 28 Doncaster Road Mexborough has won £1262 in a Penny points pool. He is a keen soccer enthusiast.
Interviewed on Wednesday, Mr Clifford laughingly said, “I don’t intend to retire on it, but it will be a nice ‘nest egg’ to have by me. He does not want a lot of publicity.
His successful line involved submission of about 176 lines.
He has been a pools speculator ever since he was demobilised from the RAF in February last year and this is his first win. He served for eight years in the RAF. During his war service he toured the Middle East area with a mobile squadron.
