Mexborough Poachers Heavily fined.

At Doncaster on Saturday, Thomas Cook, Thomas Potts, and Elijah Potts, were summoned under the Poaching Prevention Act for poaching near Mexborough, on August 31.

Ernest Foster was charged with aiding and abetting

The police evidence was to the effect that the defendants, all Mexborough labourers, were seen under suspicious circumstances in Church Street having come from land in the vicinity.

They were searched, and in their possession were found six live rabbits and a number of poaching appliances.

Defendants, who had been several times previously convicted, were each fined £5 and costs.
