Mexborough Man 102.

Mr. John Callis, retired mason, has just celebrated his hundred and second birthday at Hull where he has lived retired for 32 years.

He was born at Mexborough, where his father was contractor, and he remembers helping to build the lofty Wilberforce Monument at Hull commemorating the freeing of the slaves.

He is still active. His brother Edward died at Sheffield over hundred years old.
