Mexborough Has Its Own”Holme Moss”

A  100 feet high steel mast which will relay wired television to the Mexborough, Conisbrough, Swinton and Dearne areas was erected by Rediffusion Ltd. on the Wragby Raw clearance area, Mexborough on Tuesday.

The mast, which is situated at one of the highest of the town’s points, will relay B.B.C. and I.T.V. television signals throughout the Rediffusion network in the four districts.

An-unmanned kiosk is to be built at the base of the mast where the signals will be converted to the correct frequency. This will be in operation 24 hours each day.

Rediffusion’s Area Engineer, Mr. Alec Leake, told the “South Yorkshire Times” people in this district would be able to receive wired vision — a system which gives virtually interference-free viewing, it was the third mast to be erected by the Company, others being at Rotherham and Hemingfield.
