Mexborough and Swinton Times March 18, 1927

Mr JJ Woffinden manager of the Mexborough Electric Theatres, and a very good friend of various philanthropic movements in the town, particularly of the Montagu hospital, of which institution he has twice recent been an inmate.

Although only just recovering from a serious illness, Mr Woffinden organised the very successful ‘community singing’ concert given in the Empire Theatre last Sunday night, when Sir Henry Coward conducted a full “house” which paid over £40 for the privilege.

The net proceeds are to be divided between the Montagu hospital and the Mexborough Old Folks Treat Fund.
