Mexborough Club and Midland League Applicants.

A loss of £305 and the worst season that Mexborough had experienced since it became a section of the Mexborough Athletic Club, three years ago, was commented upon Mr. W. B. Marsdin, the Chairman, at the annual meeting of the football section last night.

He said that injuries to players had cost them over £100. “Gate” money amounted to £1,033, which was an average of £47 per home match. In their first season under the present constitution they won the championship of the Midland League and during that year their home “gates” had reached £67. The following year the average was £52. The biggest “gate’’ last season was £99 16s. 2d. on the occasion of the Mexboro’—Denaby match.

For next season there would be more applicants for the Midland League. There would not be for all of them, but the Mexboro’ supporters were hoping that Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster would be admitted, for that meant money to Mexborough. Last season they had won the Mexborough Association Cup, beating Denaby United in the replayed final.

Mr. Marsdin said that the matter re-signing old players and getting new ones would be considered at the special meeting of the new committee next week

Mr. Frank Machin was reappointed secretary; and Messrs. G. Biggins, W. Fvans, Wragg. A. Rounds, F. Hudson, and r, Marshall, were elected the Management, Committee, along with six members of the General Committee.
