Mexborough 161 for 1  Rawmarsh 160

Mexboro’ continued to display splendid form at home, and on Saturday brought off the best, of three capital batting performances, at the expense of Rawmarsh, who, but for a sturdy partnership between Knutton and Twigg who put on 90 for the fifth wicket, would have cut a poor figure before the bowling of Laurie Burkinshaw, Dan Elliott an Hobson.

As it was, they raised the respectable total of 160. However, on an easy wicket the bowling of Rawmarsh raised no difficulty and three Mexboro men, by the merriest cricket, rubbed off the runs for the loss of only one wicket—Grieg’s.

Reg. Nicholson batted prettily and with more than his custom enterprise. He hates solidly, but often, and his score of 82 included a six and eighteen fours. “Pal” Hobson, too, batted nicely for his 52 not out. He completed the half-century for the second week in succession, and has scored 150 since last he lost his wicket. Reg. Nicholson’s 82 is his highest in Mexboro’ League cricket though he has twice exceeded the century in friendly cricket.
