Mexboro’ Quarrel.

Summoned for assaulting Thomas Bunting, aged 63, of Mexborough, Herbert Burns (34), a Mexborough miner, was at Doncaster on Tuesday bound over and ordered to pay the costs. A summons against the older man for using threats was dismissed.

It was alleged that on April 17th Bunting as on land which he occupied rent-free on condition that he kept the walls in repair. He was continually annoyed by cans and other rubbish being thrown over the wall on to his land.

Burns, who occupied the next plot, appeared over the wall using abusive language and picked up a stone to throw at the older man. Bunting raised a bar to protect himself when Burns struck him between the eyes.
