New Post in Canada

Leaving England for Toronto next week to join de Havilland Aircraft Company as Production Engineer is Mr Cyril Flinders, of Thornton Heath, Surrey, youngest of four sons of Mr and Mrs T. Flinders, 1, Ferryboat Lane, Mexborough.

Mr Flinders, who left the commercial department of the ” South Yorkshire Times ” Printing Co.. Ltd., 16 years ago to join Imperial Airways at Croydon as improver, eventually took charge of their machine shop, later became aircraft inspector and, five years later, planning engineer, latterly to the newly-constituted B.O.A.C.

During the war Mr Flinders joined the R.A.F. Reserve and was seconded to B.O.A.C. for the assembly of American fighter aircraft coming to this country.

An old boy of Mexborough Doncaster Road School, Mr Flinders married a Middlesbrough girl and they have two sons and a daughter. His family will be going to Toronto with him.

One of Mr Flinders’ three brothers is at Dale Brown’s, Swinton, another in locomotive control at Doncaster, the third In the building trade In Durham. Their parents celebrated their Golden Wedding last week.
