Mean Theft From a Child.

At Doncaster to-day, a respectably-dressed, well-spoken girl, named Mary Ann Aubrey (17), munition worker, belonging to Sheffield, was charged with stealing 12s. 6d. means of a trick, from child of nine, living with her parents at Mexborough.

On June 23rd child was sent by her mother to a chemist’s shop for a bottle of medicated wine, costing 2s. 9d. The child was given a Treasury Note, and received 17s 3d. change.

Outside the shop she was accosted by the prisoner, who took 12s. 6d. from her, and she returned home with 4s. 9d. only. Prisoner was sent prison for month.
