There are now 41 miner’s representatives in Parliament.

A telephone exchange is shortly to be provided at Conisborough.

The Miners Welfare Scheme for the district are taking practical shape.

The Hickleton Golf Club are contemplating laying out a new course at Stotfold.

There are on average a thousand unemployed on the books of the Mexborough Employment Exchange.

Mr Tom Williams, M.P., travel to London on Monday, and took the oath in the House of Commons the same day.

“The wisest of those makes a bold sometimes,” said Mr J.E. Cliff last Wednesday, when his brother Councillors chafed him for talking about “providing unemployment.”

Mr William Rosedale Hudson, formerly of Mexborough, who died 9th October, left estate of the gross value of £2,124.

At the funeral of Mr Blythman, the vicar of Swinton (Dr Hutchinson) was assisted by two predecessors in that office, the Reverend W.J. Peacey, vicar of Partington, and the Reverend C. Steele, Vicar of Scunthorpe.

Mr R Claytor, of Hickleton Main, and Mr J.E. Mitchell, of Mitchell Main concerned in an important transaction involving the purchase and reorganisation of the Shipley collieries, Derbyshire.

Mr R.M. Carlin, of the Commercial Hotel, Mexborough, is interesting himself in the proposal to lay out a golf course in the neighbourhood of Mexborough, and would like to hear from anyone inclined to assist in the promotion of such a scheme.

Mr George Morley Saunders, of Carlton Chambers, Regent Street, S.W., late of Wath on Dearne, and of 35 Belgrave Rd, London, S.W. solicitor, who died at Chamonix, France in September 16 class, aged 94, left estate of the gross value of £78,190, with net personalty £62,630.

A special mission is to be held in connection with the Thurnscoe Parish Church during Advent, and the rector of Thurnscoe has arranged for a visit from Lieutenant General Sir Arthur Phayre, K.C.B., cousin of the late Lord Roberts and Mr H Upward, editor of “The Church Family Newspaper.”

The Wombwell Choral Society produced a concert version of “Faust” at the Pavilion, Wombwell, next Thursday.

The Don Valley Divisional Labour Party are celebrating their recent electoral victory with a social gathering to be held at the Free Christian Hall, Mexborough on Saturday from 4 PM.
