Death of Mr. W Goddard of Adwick

Mr. William Goddard, the oldest member of the Mexborough Montagu Hospital Board of Management died at his home, 3, Jubilee Cottages, Adwick-on-Dearne, on Thursday. He was 79.

Mr. Goddard devoted the major part of his life to the interests of the Montagu Hospital. He was a pensioner of Manvers Main Colliery and while working there was delegate for the colliery on the Hospital Board. A few years ago he was made a Life Governor. He was also treasurer of the Checkweigh Fund at the colliery.

His connection with the Hospital extend to the day of the old Cottage Hospital in Bank to Street and his period of service t the Hospital was longer than any other living person.

In sporting circles Mr. Goddard was a keen bowler, winning the Burton Cup when he was over 70 He leaves a widow and 13 children.
