Mexborough and Swinton Times February 18, 1938
Labour Women.
Mrs. M.H. Gibb, the North Eastern Area Organiser for the Labour Party, visited Mexborough on Tuesday to make a presentation to Mrs. T. W. Whipp, secretary of the Women’s Section of the Mexborough branch of the Party for seven years, in appreciation of her services. The ceremony took place at Dolcliffe Road School, and among those present were Mrs. Tom Williams and Mrs. M. Singleton J.P., secretary of the South Yorkshire Women’s Advisory Council.
Making the presentation of a carving set and a half tea service, Mrs. Gibb spoke of the excellent work of Mrs. Whipp, under whose guidance the branch had shown a consistent increase in strength each year until it was now one of the largest sections in South Yorkshire.
A feature of the section’s progress was the influx of younger members. Mrs. Whipp said that she had been very happy working for the section. She appreciated the help that had been given her by the members of the section. She hoped she would be able to carry on for many years with the same cooperation.
