Hospital Board “Breeze “
Sharp Words at Conisbrough
Sharp words passed between Coun. G. Oldfield and Coun. G. S. Morley at Doncaster and Mexborough Joint Hospital Board meeting at Conisbrough on Wednesday, after Coun. Morley had asked questions about three employees of the Board. Coun. Mrs. L. Noble presided.
It was reported that Mr. Watkinson, the boiler attendant, was retiring, and Coun. Morley asked if the gardener had been helping Mr. Watkinson.
Coun. Oldfield said Coun. Morley’s attitude that afternoon was rather strange. Mr. Watkinson had carried on his work in spite of poor health and his age. He had given good service and the Board could appreciate the gardener assisting any employee who was incapacitated.
Coun. Morley said he was simply asking questions and had said something detrimental about the gardener or anyone else.
Coun. Morley said he was t going to suggest that Mr. Watkinson should carry on his duties until the end of the war.
It was agreed to advertise for a successor.
