Will Mean Big Party at Mexborough

Celebrating their Golden Wedding with a family re-union party tomorrow (Saturday), are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lindsay, 10, Newark Road, Mexborough, 73 and 68 years old respectively.

Both from old Mexborough families, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay were married in 1899 at Doncaster Registry office, and have lived in Mexborough all their lives. Mr. Lindsay first met his wife when they were both in service at Barnburgh Hall, where Mr. Lindsay was employed as a groom. From Barnburgh Mr. Lindsay went to Manvers Main Colliery, where he was horse-keeper until his retirement in 1941,

A very energetic man for his age, Mr. Lindsay uses his bicycle to travel locally and gets up at 6 o’clock each day to tend his garden, which he has cultivated for 40 years.

Parents of 12 children, five of whom served in the last war, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay hope to have a full house at their party tomorrow.
