Felony at Mexborough
An old man named Joseph Proctor, described as a plaster was sent to prison for one month with hard labour for stealing a plane, screwdriver, and hammer, of the value 5s., the property of George Carr, a joiner, living in Glasshouse lane, Mexborough.
The prosecutor stated that he had been working at some houses in Schofield-street, Mexborough, on the 14th inst., and when he left for the night he left the tools covered upon the premises. The next morning he found they had been stolen. The boarding which had been put over them had been removed. They were covered up at half past five o’clock the previous night.
The prisoner said he was guilty of taking the things, but “he happened to be in drink when he did it.”
