Mexborough & Swinton Times – Friday 1st April 1932
Ladies and Gentlemen,
After great pressure from various sources, I have decided to allow myself to be nominated as a Candidate for the forthcoming Election.
If I am favoured with your confidence and support and elected on the Council, my one object will be ECONOMY WITH EFFICIENCY.
I am well known in the Town, having lived here and been connected with business all my life, and therefore claim to have some knowledge of the requirements of Mexborough.
Rash promises cut no ice, but I will do my very utmost to promote ALL that is for the TOWN’S BENEFIT, having in mind that HEAVY RATES are a great burden to all Householders.
NEW INDUSTRIES are needed. I would do all in my power to encourage new industries to come to Mexborough. and in the revival of the OLD ones, if possible, as work for our unemployed would considerably help the Rates and do something to cure the terrible evil which is in our midst.
If I have the honour to become your representative I shall at all times do my best to render you good service.
Yours faithfully.
JACK HARRY WHITE.
Undertaker, 60, Bank Street, Mexborough.
