Denaby Boxing.
The Denaby Miners’ Welfare Institute is rapidly getting a name as a place where one can see interesting boxing display.
Whether it be that the miners in the district have grown little tired of football, or whether the good boxing fare at Denaby is at last beginning be appreciated, there has been a marked improvement of late in the support given the effort of local boxing promoters.
Indeed, so successful have recent exhibitions been, that Saturday the Sports Committee have arranged a more ambitious programme than usual, the chief event being a 15 rounds contest for the light-weight championship Yorkshire between Bert Priestley (Mexborough) and Ernie Bicknell (Edlington).
Bert Priestley was making rapid headway in the boxing world until he had the misfortune to injure himself. He will be welcomed back to the ring, and the fight should have a great measure of support
