County Match for South Yorkshire?
The Mexborough Club appear to have found a good fast bowler in young Padley who wrecked the Rotherham side on Saturday at Clifton Lane. We can well overlook the fact that he was no-balled so often. He will soon overcome that weakness.
Mexborough have been taking professional advice as to how they can improve the turf conditions of this finely appointed ground and acting on the advice tendered they ought to set about the task of improving the cricket, football, tennis, and bowling green’s so that they can become absolutely first class in every respect. This is an example of enterprise which is to be commended.
There are many who think that after the war the Yorkshire club should allocate either a first or second team fixture to South Yorkshire in recognition of the way in which the interest has been maintained in the game in the district during the war.
