Coming Home
Mr. and Mrs. George Place, 5, Conway Terrace, Mexborough, will next week welcome home their son, Pte. George Place (20), from the Middle East, where he has been serving with the Army Catering Corps.
He has there been a member of a unit team of eight which has won M.B.L.F trophies for cleanliness, efficiency and skill, in the arts of butchering and catering.
He is a keen sprint cyclist, a member of Mexborough Road Club and the N.C.U. He won a first prize at Winterton Cycle Sports in a sprint event before he joined the Forces in 1947.
Mr George Place, sen., has also done his share so far as trophy collecting goes. During his ten years as an amateur cyclist he won over £15O worth.
