Clean Food Campaign
Mexborough Trades, Council’s Request
Letters have been sent from Mexborough and District Trades Council to Mexborough Chamber of Trade and all local urban councils protesting against alleged improper handling of foods in certain trades and the unclean condition of some shops and vans.
Delegates have drawn the Trades Council’s attention to specific complaints of careless handling of food, and these the Trades Council have requested, should be investigated by the appropriate authority.
Swinton Urban Council have already taken action on one similar complaint. The firm concerned have investigated the complaint, which, they say, had apparently been due to circumstances outside their control.
They were fully aware of the ever present, need for hygiene in a factory and stated constant vigilance was necessary to avoid the introduction of foreign matter into food.
