Bungay Transferred.
Mexborough’s Prolific Scorer for Huddersfield.
Yesterday, Mr. W. A. Tompkins, manager of Mexborough Athletic, transferred Bungay, Mexborough’s prolific goal-scoring centre forward, to Huddersfield Town for a substantial fee.
Of late Bungay has shown extraordinarily good form in Midland League matches, and has scored 20 goals in the last ten games, bringing his total for the season to 27.
He joined Mexborough the start of last season from Norton Woodseats, the Sheffield Association League side. Though in his first season in Midland League football he had several periods of inactivity, owing to injuries, he was Mexborough’s leading scorer with 21 goals.
This season be has shown remarkable improvement, and had failed to score in only one the last ten matches, against Denaby United Boxing Day. He secured four goals against Loughborough Corinthians on Monday, feat which he also performed earlier in the season. Bungay is 21 years age, well built, fast, clever, and thrustful, and has been big medium in Mexborough’s recent fine advance.
