Breach of Colliery Rules at Denaby

Harry Cocksedge, filler, Mexborough, was charged with committing a breach of the colliery rules at Denaby on 30 October.

Mr Charles Bury, for the prosecution, stated that defendant was driving four corves along a road in the mine. He was proceeding down an incline towards a “jinny” when the corves broke loose, and, in consequence, a horse’s leg was broken.

The rules referred to above is that no driver shall proceed along the road with a train of more than three corves.

Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 10/– and 10/6 costs, or 14 days.
