Mexborough Boy Who Saved Child

Ronald Hague, aged 13. of John street. Mexborough, a nephew of “Iron” Hague, English heavyweight champion of years ago, received a Royal Humane Society parchment from the chairman of the Urban Council, Mr. A- Shaw, last night.

Mr. Shaw praised Hague, who, playing cricket, heard a four-year-old boy was in difficulties in the canal. He left his game, dived immediately into the water and succeeded in rescuing the child.

Mr. Shaw said that Mexborough did not produce film stars but it produced sportsmen of real spirit which was evidenced again in a further generation.
