Boxing at Mexborough

The chief contest at the Empire, Mexborough, on Saturday was one of fifteen rounds between Corporal Barney Tooley (Coldstream Guards) and Private Alf Palfreyman, the Hull Kingston Rovers foottaller.

The contest went the full distance, and the referee, Mr. E. East burn, Sheffield, declared it a draw.

Joe Jones and Harry Leach, both of Doncaster, also fought a draw, Charlie Brennan, Sheffield, beat Ben Stephenson, Wombwell, on points.
