Boxing at Mexborough.
An excellent programme was staged the Empire, Mexborough. Saturday.
The principal contest was one of 15 rounds, for £30 between “Tosh” Price. Mexborough, and Wyke Jackson, Rotherham. Price, who was all but “out” in the third round, rallied splendidly, and easily won on points.
Joe Rodgers, Mexborough. beat Fred Morris. Hemsworth, in a ten-round ‘contest points.
Dick Brown, Bentley, in an eight round bout with Clem White, Hemsworth, was disqualified in the third round for hitting low.
Crossley of Mexborough beat Young Quinn, of Rotherham, who retired at the end of the second round with a damaged thumb.
Mr. C. Blackburn, Liverpool, was referee, and Mr. F. Eastburn, Sheffield, M.C.
