Bedroom Suicide

It was stated at the inquest at Mexborough yesterday on Herbert Henry Piggford (65) who was found hanging at his home, 32 Helena street, Mexborough, Wednesday, that he had been in failing health for some time and was depressed as result.

The widow Jane Piggford said he stayed in bed Wednesday morning, and when she took a meal to the bedroom, she found him hanging by a rope from a bedpost.

Evidence was also given by William Smith, 26 Helena street, Mexborough. and by Dr. T. Lindsay.

Piggford was a retired colliery surface worker.

The Coroner (Mr WH Carlile) recorded a verdict that the man committed suicide while the balance of his mind was disturbed.
